With a great gap in the construction process -- think worker no-shows, building discoveries we wish we never uncovered, foundation issues, and general summer slowpokiness, I had to find more reliable help, at least in the home-ec department. My handyman happened upon this aging appartus at a yard sale up the street, handed the owner a fiver, dropped $35 for a new pedal, and jumpstarted a new career in curtains.
